Hymns about trusting God
Hymns of trust say what faith looks like when life is uncertain: leaning on God's promises, resting in his care, and holding on because he holds on to us. They range from sturdy older hymns built on Scripture — “How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord” — to gospel songs like “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” and “'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.”
Sing them in hard seasons, at baptisms and professions of faith, or whenever a sermon calls the church to rely on God. The most widely sung are listed first. All are in the public domain, so you may print, project or record them freely.
Several of these hymns quote Scripture almost word for word, which makes them good companions to a reading: “How Firm a Foundation” draws on God's promises in Isaiah 41 and 43. Print several at once, or open a hymn to transpose its chords and print it for your musicians.
