Hymn tune
WUNDERBARER KÖNIG
WUNDERBARER KÖNIG is a hymn tune in 6.6.8.6.6.8.6.6.6, composed by Joachim Neander (1650–1680) (1680). In a hymnal the tune has a name of its own, printed in capitals, because the same music carries many texts: any hymn written in its meter can be sung to it.
The four-part harmony played here comes from the Open Hymnal Project's public-domain edition (copied from Common Service Book Hymn 424 Lyrics of this hymn have been one huge trail of modifications since its original translation in 1789. Most significant changes seemed to be around 1880 with the Hymnal of the Presbyterian Church in Canada p. 13-14. These Lyrics from CSB).
