Hymn tune

INNSBRUCK

INNSBRUCK is a hymn tune in 7.7.6.7.7.8, composed by Heinrich Isaac (1450–1517). In a hymnal the tune has a name of its own, printed in capitals, because the same music carries many texts: any hymn written in its meter can be sung to it.

The four-part harmony played here comes from the Open Hymnal Project's public-domain edition (copied from The English Hymnal, 1906, Hymn 278. This setting is the final Chorale from BWV 97. Translation is public domain per Project Wittenberg: http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/text/wittenberg/hymns/nowrest.txt).
