Hymn tune
ES IST DAS HEIL UNS KOMMEN HER
ES IST DAS HEIL UNS KOMMEN HER is a hymn tune in 8.7.8.7.8.8.7, credited to Wittenberg, 1524 from Etlich Christlich Lider (1400). In a hymnal the tune has a name of its own, printed in capitals, because the same music carries many texts: any hymn written in its meter can be sung to it.
2 hymns in this library share its meter and can be sung to it.
The four-part harmony played here comes from the Open Hymnal Project's public-domain edition (copied from "Mehrstimmiges ChoralBuch", 1906 Hymn #206, page 162 Ed. Karl Brauer. Translation found in The Lutheran Hymnary, 1913.).
