- 1Angel voices, ever singing
- Round Thy throne of light,
- Angel harps, forever ringing,
- Rest not day nor night;
- Thousands only live to bless Thee,
- And confess Thee Lord of might.
- 2Thou who art beyond the farthest
- Mortal eye can scan,
- Can it be that Thou regardest
- Songs of sinful man?
- Can we feel that Thou art near us,
- And wilt hear us? Yea, we can.
- 3Here, great God, today we offer
- Of Thine own to Thee;
- And for Thine acceptance proffer,
- All unworthily,
- Hearts and minds, and hands and voice,
- In our choicest melody.
- 4Honor, glory, might, and merit,
- Thine shall ever be,
- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
- Blessed Trinity:
- Of the best that Thou hast given
- Earth and heaven render Thee.
About this music
ANGEL VOICES (MONK) — Edwin George Monk. Setting: Presbyterian Hymnal, 1911.. The score is from the Open Hymnal Project, copied from 'The Hymnal, Revised' The Presbyterian Board of Publication, 1911 Hymn 98. published in Pott's "Hymns fitted to the Order of Common Prayer", 2nd edition, 1866 tune and lyrics written for the same event arrangement rather similar (not exact) to that in multiple 1890's sources; almost definitely Monk's arrangement.; music and setting are in the public domain. The words above are from the hymnal cited on the Angel Voices, Ever Singing page.
